Mabel Gunda joined the Internet Society Foundation as the Communications Manager in February 2020. In this role, she is in charge of developing and implementing strategic communications that bring visibility to the funding programme areas of the Foundation.
She is a Communications specialist with over 15 years experience managing strategic communications and branding programs across the private and non-profit sectors. In her last job, she led the communications and marketing department at Higherlife Foundation, based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Prior to joining Higherlife Foundation, Mabel served in communications management roles with some of the biggest brands in the world, including General Electric, Gap Inc., and Roche.
Mabel is passionate about helping people and organizations shape and tell their stories through creative communications.
Ugandan by birth, Mabel spent the first 10 years of her life in Nairobi, Kenya, before relocating with her family to New York City. She has lived in Harare, Zimbabwe since 2018.
She holds a B.A in English from Mount Holyoke College and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
In her spare time she enjoys writing, mentoring, and traveling; and has a mission to visit every country in Africa within her lifetime.
