WSIS Forum 2019

Half the world is not connected - that's around 3.5 billion people without Internet access, many of them living in the remote locations. How can they share the benefits this amazing resource brings? Community Networks could be the answer.

In 2019, WSIS will celebrate its 10th anniversary of the establishment of WSIS Forum from April 8 to 12, under the theme “Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.

The Internet Society is contributing partner of thematic workshop on Community Networks and Connecting the Last Billion on Monday, 8 April 2019, 11:00 – 13:00. Sebastian Bellagamba will be speaking about Internet access at the Opening plenary and Jane Coffin will be leading the workshop.

Community Networks play an important role in connecting the unconnected. These ‘do it yourself’ networks built by people, for people. You can help by promoting, donating to, or even building a Community Network. Help us #SwitchItOn!
