West Africa Peering Forum (WAPF) 2023

The West Africa Peering Forum (WAPF) is an annual event that brings together Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Content Providers (CPs), and other stakeholders in the telecommunications industry to discuss issues related to Internet interconnection and peering in West Africa.

The objectives of the West Africa Peering Forum are:
  • To promote the development of a robust and sustainable Internet ecosystem in West Africa by encouraging local interconnection and peering among ISPs and CPs.
  • To provide a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and networking among stakeholders in the West African telecommunications industry.
  • To showcase best practices in Internet interconnection and peering from other regions and encourage their adoption in West Africa.
  • To advocate for policy and regulatory reforms that support the growth of local interconnection and peering in West Africa.
The expected outcomes of the West Africa Peering Forum in 2023 are:
  • Increased awareness and understanding of the benefits of local interconnection and peering among stakeholders in the West African telecommunications industry.
  • Improved technical skills and knowledge among participants, particularly in the areas of Internet interconnection and peering.
  • Establishment of new peering agreements among ISPs and CPs in West Africa.
  • Identification of policy and regulatory reforms needed to support the growth of local interconnection and peering in West Africa.
  • Relationship between the growth of West African Internet Exchange Points and the deployment of Data Centers in West Africa.

The event is organized by the West Africa Peering community in partnership with the Internet Society and other organizations. This year’s virtual event is organized in partnership with the African Network Operators Group (AfNOG).
