Virtual Workshop – Optical Transceiver Basics For African IXPs

On August 18, 2020 at 13:00 UTC, the Internet Society and Flexoptix organized a virtual workshop on optical transceiver basics and modules for the African Internet Exchange Point community (Af-IX).

The workshop aimed to equip African Internet Exchange Point (IXP) operators with knowledge about optical transceiver technologies (basics), which, subsequently, will enable them to offer better and innovative services to their peers.

The online workshop was facilitated by Flexoptix. The workshop covered fundamental, technical and operational aspects of SFP modules, plus Flexbox Training – Configurations/Reconfigurations, Troubleshooting with Power Meter & Source, Distance Analysis and DWDM Tuning. In addition, the participants were trained on how to place orders on the Flexoptix web store according to the Internet Society Equipment support program requirements.
