Due to COVID-19-related delays, the ITU scheduled two of its statutory meetings in the same year as the Plenipotentiary Conference which will take place from 26 September – 14 October in Bucharest, Romania.
The issues discussed at the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20) in March and at the forthcoming World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-22) this June will inevitably set the tone and debates for Plenipotentiary. WTSA-20 outcomes were positive for the Internet; however, a number of unresolved issues remain. What were the substantive outcomes? What, if any, implications do they have for WTDC 2022 in June, and then for the ITU Plenipotentiary?
The OMAC roundtable #8 will:
- Walk members through critical issues being debated in ITU fora this year and potential threats to the Internet
- Share some insights about the upcoming WTDC and Plenipotentiary
- Give an overview of opportunities for collaboration at WTDC and Plenipotentiary
- Provide the opportunity for members to share their experiences/feedback about the ITU Fora
