World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2020

‹ Back
WTSA-20 will take place in Hyderabad, India, from 17 to 27 November 2020.

The ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) is the primary meeting of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) where the new leadership team and work program for the sector is defined for the next four years.

WTSA is a non-treaty level conference, however, the recommendations and resolutions that are approved shape the future direction of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector and can pave the way for a much more expansive role beyond ICTs/telecommunications to include work items related to new and emerging technologies.

To learn more about WTSA-20 and the preparations leading up to it read the Internet Society’s Background Paper on WTSA-20.

The Internet continues to evolve at a rapid pace. New services, applications, and protocols are being developed and deployed in many areas, including recently: a new transport protocol (QUIC), enhancements in how the Domain Name System (DNS) is accessed, and mechanisms to support deterministic applications over Ethernet and IP networks.
