Fellowships foster technical leadership and provide experiences working with the IETF community

[Washington, D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland] — The Internet Society today announced that it has awarded new and returning fellowships to 15 engineers to attend the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting held March 10-15 in Orlando, Florida.

The Internet Society is the organizational home of the IETF, the primary body responsible for the Internet’s core standards and protocols that represents an international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers. The Internet Society awards fellowships to support the participation of technologists from developing and emerging economies in the IETF meetings. The programme pairs first-time fellows with an experienced mentor at IETF meetings to support their participation.

“The Internet Society is committed to fostering technical leadership and increased participation in Internet standards development by technologists in emerging economies,” said Toral Cowieson, Senior Director of Internet Leadership at the Internet Society. “The IETF Fellowship Programme is an excellent opportunity for skilled engineers from emerging regions to contribute to the standards development process and to make important connections that support work in their local communities.”
