Internet Society Announces Fellows to Attend Upcoming Internet Engineering Task Force Meeting in Berlin, Germany

Fellowships presented to 16 skilled technologists from the developing world to gain experience working on Internet standards development with the IETF community

[Washington, D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland] — The Internet Society today announced that it has awarded new and returning fellowships to 16 talented engineers to attend the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) meeting being held 28 July – 02 August in Berlin, Germany.

The IETF is the Internet’s premier technical standards body, and represents an open international community of network designers, engineers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. The Internet Society is the organizational home of the IETF. The Internet Society awards fellowships to enable technologists from developing and emerging economies to participate in the IETF meetings, and experience Internet standards development in person. First-time fellows are paired with an experienced mentor to support their participation.

“The Fellowships to the IETF demonstrate the Internet Society’s longstanding commitment to foster technical leadership,” said Toral Cowieson, Senior Director of Internet Leadership at the Internet Society. “We are highly impressed with the caliber of applicants from more than 60 countries and applaud the 16 Fellows selected for their interest in contributing to Internet standards and the important work of the IETF.”

The first-time Internet Society Fellows to IETF 87 are:
