Central Africa Peering Forum 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic makes it more important than ever to keep conversations alive about developing interconnection, peering and Internet growth across the different regions of Africa.

This is why we gathered an expert panel of local, regional and global speakers to join together in our first-ever online Central Africa Peering Forum. They discussed:

  • The impact of COVID-19 on the peering and interconnection ecosystem
  • How to develop local content and online services
  • What key interventions will be required to develop Internet infrastructure in a post-COVID-19 era
  • People joined to learn more about the impact COVID-19 has had on peering traffic, IXP membership and IP
  • Transit at both a local and global level. We discussed whether there had been an increase in demand for local content and online services, and the resulting challenges and opportunities.

We also considered the key interventions that policymaking stakeholders, including policy makers and regulators, would be required to make – and in what areas – in order to boost economies and support a lifestyle where working from home is becoming the new normal.
