Virtual Peering Series – Africa
Submarine fiber cuts, new IXPs, regulatory frameworks and licensing reviews, announcement of new submarine cables, and the COVID-19 global pandemic are some of the recent regional events and developments. But what is their impact on the peering and interconnection scene in Africa?
The African IXP Association, in partnership with the Internet Society, organized The Virtual Peering Series – Africa: A collection of online events that highlighted and analyzed key issues and recent developments in Africa’s Internet ecosystem.
The Virtual Peering Series has been developed by the AfPIF Program Committee and event organizers with the goal of promoting awareness, fostering collaboration, and developing the region’s peering and interconnection ecosystem in order to achieve the vision of sourcing 80% of Africa’s traffic locally.
Event themes included the impact of COVID-19, new IXPs, new policy and regulation, new submarine cables, fibre cuts, and more.
