Internet Society Announces Appointment of Roberto Gaetano, Amitabh Singhal, and Erik Huizer to Public Interest Registry Board of Directors

[Washington, D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland] – The Internet Society today announced that Roberto Gaetano, Amitabh Singhal, and Erik Huizer have been appointed to the Public Interest Registry Board of Directors. New to the Board, Roberto Gaetano was appointed to a three-year term. Amitabh Singhal was re-appointed to a three-year term and Erik Huizer was re-appointed to a two-year term.

Roberto Gaetano, now retired from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) where he served 13 years as international civil servant, brings to the Public Interest Registry Board extensive experience in Internet governance from his work with a broad range of organizations. As Internet Policy Advisor at ETSI, he actively participated in Internet policymaking, including the process that created ICANN and its supporting organizations. He also served six years on the ICANN Board, with three as Liaison of the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC).

Amitabh Singhal has served on the Public Interest Registry Board since 2010 and is the Director of Telxess Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd. and on the Governing Board of Digital Empowerment Foundation, in Delhi, India. Erik Huizer, CTO at SURFnet, the National Education and Research Network provider in the Netherlands, and part-time professor for Internet applications at University Utrecht, joined the Public Interest Registry Board in 2007.
