The Coordination Center Joins Internet Society as Organization Member

The Coordination Center has become an Organization Member of the Internet Society, a leading non-profit organization that promotes the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world. As a member of the Internet Society, the Coordination Center will be able to participate in a broad range of meetings with key stakeholders to address critical issues impacting the global Internet.

Through its Internet Society membership, the Coordination Center will join with 130 other corporate members from around the globe to exchange experiences, share ideas, and gain access to important information on Internet policy, technical, and development issues.  The Coordination Center will also be able to nominate experts to serve on the Internet Society’s Board of Trustees.

“Russia has gained considerable positions in Europe,” said Andrei Kolesnikov, Director of the Coordination Center. “We have decided to be a member of the Internet Society to further improve Russia’s positions on the international scene.”

“Entering the Internet Society is a very important step for us. The Internet Society and the Coordination Center share a lot, and our purposes and objectives are very much alike,” points out Oleg Tabarovsky, chair of the Coordination Center’s board. “Joining the Internet Society will help provide the Coordination Center with insights on important topics, such as Internet governance and technologies that will impact the Internet and the future of the global network on an international scale.”

“We are pleased to welcome the Coordination Center to the Internet Society,” said Walda Roseman, Internet Society Chief Operating Officer.  “Our Organization members play a critical role in the Society by supporting and contributing to the evolution of the Internet as an open, decentralized platform for innovation, creativity, and economic opportunity.”
