Middle East and Adjoining Countries School on Internet Governance (MEAC-SIG) 2026

Organized by the Internet Society, ICANN and RIPE NCC, the Middle East and Adjoining Countries School on Internet Governance (MEAC-SIG) 2026 is offering a four-day in-person intensive program covering fundamental Internet governance issues.

Important Update

Due to the ongoing conflict and regional instability in the Middle East, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the Middle East School for Internet Governance (MEAC-SIG).

While our mission to foster a resilient and open Internet across the Middle East region remains unshaken, we believe that hosting this event during such a volatile time would compromise the quality of the dialogue and the security of our participant.

We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that when we do meet, the environment is conducive to the deep, strategic discussions that MEAC-SIG is known for. Please note the following updates:

  • New Date: Late September 2026.
  • Venue: To be confirmed (TBC). We are currently evaluating several locations/ countries to ensure maximum accessibility and safety for all attendees.
  • Current Applications: If you have already applied, your application remains on file and will be prioritized for the rescheduled dates.

We appreciate your patience, your resilience, and your unwavering commitment to digital rights and sovereignty in our region.

Stay safe, stay connected, and keep advocating for the open Internet we all believe in.

The program integrates the political, legal, economic, sociocultural, and technological dimensions of Internet governance into a coherent curriculum, focusing on regional imperatives critical to the Middle East. Structurally, the program provides a pragmatic mix of theoretical foundations, presentation skills, practical participant engagement skills, and interactive activities.

The MEAC-SIG faculty includes experts from academia, the technical community, civil society, governments, and the private sector with experience in the field of Internet governance.

We invite academicians, representatives of civil society, government and the public sector, the technical community, and the private sector from the Middle East and Adjoining Countries (MEAC) (22 Arab States, Republic of Türkiye, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) to participate in this unique program.
