IETF 108

‹ Back
Starting on 25 July, the Internet Engineering Task Force will be in Madrid for IETF 108, where around 1,000 engineers will discuss open Internet standards and protocols.

The IETF Hackathon and IETF Codesprint take place on the weekend. Newcomers’ training and technical tutorials take place on Sunday afternoon. The IETF meeting itself begins on Sunday 26 July and goes through Friday afternoon, 31 July.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the premier Internet standards body, developing open standards through open processes to make the Internet work better. The IETF is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) holds face-to-face meetings three times a year in locations around the world.  IETF meetings generally run Saturday through Friday and include technical Working Group sessions as well as a hackathon, IETF Codesprint, newcomers’ training, technical tutorials, and multiple side events.

The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) and the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) complement the work of the IETF by, respectively, providing long-range technical direction for Internet development and promoting research important to the Internet’s evolution.

The Internet Society provides a corporate home for the administrative entity that supports the IETF, the IAB, and the IRTF, and supports the work of these groups through a variety of programs. [Learn more in RFC 8712.]
