Dr. Praveen Misra is a distinguished technocrat, Internet governance leader, and academician with over three decades of experience across government, global industry, and academia. His professional journey reflects a sustained commitment to advancing an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet — closely aligned with the mission and values of the Internet Society (ISOC).
He served as Chair of the Internet Society Accessibility (A11y) Standing Group (2024–2025), where he advanced inclusive Internet policies and digital accessibility initiatives to ensure equitable participation in the digital ecosystem. As a former Director on the DotIN Board (2021–2023), he contributed to strategic oversight and governance of critical Internet infrastructure. He has also advised corporate and institutional boards on cybersecurity governance, digital transformation, and risk management. In 2024, he was inducted into the IPv6 New Internet Hall of Fame in recognition of his leadership in IPv6 adoption and Internet modernization.
With over two decades as a Senior Scientist in Government of India organizations and leadership roles in global technology enterprises, Dr. Misra has led national and international initiatives in IPv6 deployment, DNS and identifier systems, secure network architecture, eduroam expansion, Universal Acceptance, and connectivity in underserved regions. His expertise spans cybersecurity governance, AI, IoT, Quantum Computing, High Performance Computing, and digital infrastructure resilience.
An ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor and cybersecurity specialist, he brings strong governance, risk oversight, and compliance expertise — critical to board-level fiduciary responsibility and institutional sustainability. He is a committed advocate of the multistakeholder model and has actively engaged in global Internet forums including ICANN meetings, the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), and APAN, strengthening international collaboration and community capacity building.
Currently in academia, as an Associate Professor (CSE) & Director-ICT, Dr. Misra mentors undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral scholars, fostering research-driven innovation and real-world implementation. In his capacity as Director-ICT, he nurtures Infrastructure and Governance. Through strategic foresight, governance experience, and a deep commitment to inclusive and resilient Internet development, he seeks to contribute meaningfully to the ISOC Board in advancing global collaboration, expanding meaningful connectivity with the Chapters, and promoting long-term institutional sustainability.
