Internet Society to Hold Seminar on Standards Framework for Latin American and Caribbean Policy Makers

The Internet Society will present the seminar "Internet Standards Framework" September 10, 2012 in San Salvador, El Salvador. It will be held in conjunction with the XXI Meeting of CITEL, an advisory body of the Organization of American States which focuses on promoting development of telecommunications and ICT in the Americas.

The seminar will acquaint high-level policy makers and key regional stakeholders with the global Internet standards framework, the diversity of standards organizations involved, information on how standards contribute to global interoperability, and the importance of collaboration amongst standards bodies.  Speakers are expected to include representatives of the IETF, IEEE and W3C, as well as the Internet Society.
