Afilias Partners With Internet Society to Sponsor Deploy360 ION Conference Series Through 2016

Series Helps Promote Global IPv6 and DNSSEC Deployment

[Washington, D.C. and Geneva, Switzerland] – The Internet Society announced today that Internet infrastructure expert Afilias will be a sponsor of the entire ION Conference Series through 2016. IONs are part of the Internet Society’s Deploy360 Programme, which aims to foster the global adoption of key Internet technology standards such as IPv6, Domain Name System Security (DNSSEC), and secure routing protocols.

“ION Conferences bring together network operators, enterprises, application developers, content providers, and other participants to share information and insights into regional deployment of emerging Internet technologies. Early adopters share their own deployment experiences, and operators take home valuable information about how to deploy those standards on their own networks,” said Chris Grundemann, the Internet Society’s Director, Deployment and Operationalization. “Afilias’ generous support of such an important educational initiative will have a direct impact on the healthy development and growth of the global Internet.”

ION Conferences take place several times per year in locations across the globe, and promote and foster learning about IPv6, DNSSEC, and secure routing protocol technologies. Attendees learn about best practices, how to make a business case for deployment, and how to implement these standards on their own networks.

“As the next generation Internet Protocol (IP) address standard, IPv6 is critical to the Internet’s continued growth as a platform for innovation and economic development. At the same time, DNSSEC and secure routing are critical to the Internet’s operations,” said Afilias EVP and CTO, Ram Mohan. “As two of the leading proponents of DNSSEC and IPv6 adoption worldwide, Afilias and the Internet Society are committed to promoting these standards, which are key to the continued growth and evolution of the Internet.”
