Biography

Wang Wei is the CTO of FUXI Institution, and an 2017-2020 board member at PTI, Post Transition IANA. His areas of focus include digital identifier, data governance, data sharing and privacy in the digital era.

Prior to FUXI, he served as the Strategical Partnership Manager at Google China , dealing with cloud service engagement and tech compliance. Before that, he was VP at Knet Technologies, the largest IDN New gTLD registry of \".网址/xn--ses554g\".He also played a variety of engineering leadership roles at CNNIC, the ccTLD registry of .CN, in 2004-2014, working on DNS, DNSSEC, IPv6, RPKI, Anti-phishing.

Wang Wei is an active member in the global and domestic Internet communities. In 2000s, he helped deploy mirror servers of I Root, F Root, L Root, .KR and .DE in China. He is a caucus member of the ICANN RSSAC and a working group member of the ICC Intellectual Property Roadmap. As Co-Chair of the Chinese Generation Panel, he recently accomplished the Chinese Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone. He is the joint secretary of CDNC in Asia. He is the general secretary of the Digital Transformation Working Committee in Internet Society of China (ISC).

Wang Wei earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Nankai University in 2004. He is currently also a visiting research fellow and doctoral advisor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published a dozen papers on DNS and Anti-phishing. In IETF, he contributed to RFC 8483, 8897.
