Marsema Tariku joined the Internet Society in 2011. She is the Manager, Translations, and Logistics & Events Manager for the African Regional Bureau. She came to the Internet Society with rich experience in event organization having worked in key posts of cultural and artistic events at the Alliance Ethio-Française as the Public Relations Officer and the Cultural Events’ Organizer and at the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to the African Union, as the Senior Communication Officer.

She also has a Communication and Journalism background having worked for three years for the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency as Newscaster and Senior Editor for the Ethiopian Television French program.

Over the years, Marsema has specialized in freelance trilingual translations for French, English and Amharic languages, and writing services for a wide variety of UN agencies, GOs and NGOs, successfully tackling a wide range of thematics.  She has effectively undertaken correcting interviewing interpretation and subtitling services for France 3, ARTE, CBC, and the London Weekend Television.

Known as article contributor and special columnist for the Addis Guide Magazine, “for the Record” Column, Marsema has produced an educational documentary film for UNESCO and has been the main coordinator/interpreter for such journalists as Jonathan Dimbleby and for the Champs Elysees reconnaissance team, accompanying the then French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, when they came to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Marsema holds an MA degree in Journalism and Communication from the Addis Ababa University, in Ethiopia.

She is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
