Elizabeth Oluoch - Do Canto, is a Senior Policy Advisor within the Global Policy Development team where she supports the Policy team’s activities in Internet Governance where amongst other responsibilities in her portfolio, leads the organization’s engagement at the International Telecommunication Union. Additionally, she provides policy support to the North American Regional Bureau.
She has previous experience in both the private and public sectors. Her early career began on Capitol Hill where she served a one-year term as an intern assigned to Senior Council to U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee where amongst a range of responsibilities, she monitored banking issues during the overhaul of the banking industry.
She served as Senior Manager for Administration for TranSecur, a global travel security information provider for mostly Fortune 500 companies. Here she oversaw recruitment, HR generalist functions and client renewal accounts. Before being promoted to the Senior Manager position, Elizabeth served as Executive Assistant to TranSecur’s President/CEO and founder, a former United States Assistant Secretary of Defense.
Elizabeth also served as a Senior Assistant to the Vice President of Resource Development at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), in Washington, D.C. At CBCF, she supported a wide range of the development division’s activities including donation tracking and donor outreach. Additionally, she coordinated the division’s reporting with the Finance team on development activities for the Board and Advisor Committee Meetings.
Elizabeth has significant cross cultural experience, having studied, traveled and lived in many parts of Africa and Europe. She holds a Master Degree in Public Policy from American University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina Central.
Elizabeth is based in Reston, VA United States.
