Biography

Leonard Mabele is a self-driven, visionary, hardworking, and creative individual. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Mobile Telecommunications and Innovation. He is currently doing his PhD study focusing on Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) techniques with Software Defined Radios and Cognitive Radios. Presently, he is on an academic exchange program at Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic.

He represents Strathmore University in an ongoing collaborative study on Television White Spaces (TVWS) technology as a benchmark of implementing dynamic spectrum access and enable Internet access to the rural communities. The study is led by the University of Strathclyde (Scotland, UK) in collaboration with academic partners from four African countries, Kenya being represented by Strathmore University. The other three academic partners include Copperbelt University (Zambia), University of Malawi (Malawi) and University of Ghana (Ghana). Additionally, he is also working with a team of researchers in Kenya together with the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) to finalise the Kenyan TVWS studies and implement the regulatory framework for the country. Leonard is also the manager of the Internet of Things (IoT) Research Group at Strathmore University.
