Dr. Konstantinos Komaitis is the Senior Director, Policy Strategy and Development at the Internet Society.
Konstantinos provides analysis and strategic advice in support of the Internet Society’s policy, advocacy and mission, including the promotion of the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world.
Konstantinos has extensive experience in Internet policy and governance arrangements. He leads policy development and coordination on issues relating to the digital economy, including access and competition, intellectual property, technology trade, and Internet governance. He also provides directions to the organization’s public policy team to advance the Internet Society’s mission and policies that lead to an open, global and interoperable Internet. Over the past years, Konstantinos has held various leadership roles, including the chair of the Non-Commercial Users Constituency at ICANN and has often provided expert advice on governmental and other fora, having testified before the House of Lords Communications Committee amongst others.
Konstantinos joined the Internet Society after working as a senior lecturer at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK. He has a Bachelor’s degree in law from the Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki. He holds two Master’s degrees, respectively, in International and European law (Sheffield) and in Information Technology and Telecommunications law (Strathclyde). He also holds a Doctorate and he is the author of the book “The Current State of Domain Name Regulation”. He is also an arbitrator for the Czech Arbitration Court as well as a TedX speaker.
Konstantinos is based in Geneva.
