Biography

Connie J. Kendig joined the Internet Society in March 2008 as the Internet Society's first Sponsored Programs and Grants Manager. In that role she was responsible for establishing the formal processes and implementing the Internet Society’s giving and awards, specifically the Beyond the Net grants (née Community Grants), Fellows to the IETF, Ambassadors to the IGF, and other capacity building activities.

With her diverse knowledge of grant-giving and philanthropy, Connie eventually transitioned to the fundraising team at the Internet Society as the Senior Grants Manager. Here she was able to apply her ‘donor perspective’ to collaborate with both program and resource development staff in Internet Society’s grant-seeking and revenue generation activities.

Connie now works as the Senior Manager, Fundraising Operations where she works closely with internal stakeholders focused on cultivating new partnership opportunities that further Internet Society’s mission. Connie oversees the Internet Society fundraising management procedures and is instrumental in the formulation of partnership opportunities and overall strategy.

From 2003 to 2007, Connie was a member of the staff of the Third Millennium Foundation, a private foundation in New York City, focusing on promoting respect for diversity and preventing prejudice through support for international human rights and education programs. As the Grants Manager and eventually the Director of Research Initiatives, she acquired a breadth of experience establishing procedures and protocols in grants management and project monitoring, while working with a diverse group of international programs and activists.

Connie began her project management work in 2000 as a Research Assistant with the Treatment Research Institute (TRI) in Philadelphia, working on a national technology data system that collected real-time data on clients entering substance abuse treatment centers. In that position, she focused on database management, networking, training coordination, training implementation, and evaluations.

Connie holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Villanova University (Pennsylvania) and a graduate degree in Psychology from the New School University (New York City).

Connie is based in Pennsylvania, United States.
