Biography

Ramanou Biaou is a Cybersecurity, Cyber-Intelligence and Internet Governance and Policy expert with over 12 years of experience in the digital and cybersecurity space. His experience includes working at the Internet Governance Forum Secretariat at the United Nations Office in Geneva, and in numerous large multinational telecommunications and banking institutions.

Ramanou has a deep passion for the Internet and open protocols like IPv4/6, DNS, and DNSSEC. He is actively involved in the Internet governance ecosystem and takes part in various national and international Internet governance forums. As a member of the RSSAC CAUCUS (Root Server System Advisory Committee) constituency within ICANN and active participant in groups like IGF and AFRINIC, Ramanou contributes his expertise to the Internet governance community. For several years, Ramanou has been a voluntary trainer at the Internet Society's eLearning program, sharing his knowledge and passion for open Internet technologies, including DNS, networking, Unix System Administration, and Internet Governance. In 2015, he established the Benin DNS Forum, the first National Forum on Internet technologies and DNS in Africa. Ramanou also served as the Chair of the Internet Society Benin Chapter from 2018 to 2020. Indicating his availability and eagerness to share his experiences with the wider community.

In recognition of his dedication to the development of the Internet and the Internet Governance ecosystem, Ramanou was honored with ICANN's inaugural Dr. Tarek Kamel 2020 Award. The award was presented in recognition of his commitment and initiatives to enhance capacity within the global Internet community, specifically regarding issues related to domain name systems.

Ramanou currently heads CyberSpector, a cybersecurity company based in Benin and France that he founded in 2018. He possesses a degree in Cybersecurity from the University of Lille (France) and an Executive MBA in Cybersecurity Governance and Economic Intelligence from École de Guerre Économique (School of Economic Warfare). He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering in Information and Communication Technologies from IRGIB-Africa Polytech (Bénin).

In his free time, Ramanou indulges his passion for nature and photography, which he finds very fulfilling.
