João de Vasconcelos is the Communications and Outreach Manager for Latin America at the Internet Society. He is a communications expert with experience working with policy-driven projects, helping NGOs, governments, and people to promote changes that improve our lives.
Before joining the Internet Society, João worked as the Communications Manager at the Center for Public Leadership in Brazil, where he was responsible for campaigns aimed at improving the Brazilian public service and advocating for data-driven policy-making. He also worked as a consultant developing communications strategies as different as political campaigns, tech startups content strategies, and international tourism promotion.
João holds an M.A. in Media, Politics and Society, and is currently studying for his Master’s in International Affairs focusing his research on Internet governance in Latin America. He also holds a B.A. in Journalism.
Working with online communications and taking advantage of the internet to learn and improve during most of his life, he believes the Internet should be for everyone and works to make sure it is.
João is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
