Biographie

Tejpal Bedi is an ICT entrepreneur with over 21 years of experience in the Telecommunication and ICT businesses in Africa.

He started his career in Kenya in the telecommunications sector by starting an ISP called Interconnect (Iconnect) in 1997, which then merged with Internet Solutions, part of Dimension Data South Africa in 2006 to form Internet Solutions East Africa transforming the start up to a global player in the industry. As the Managing Director, he was responsible for the strategic growth, direction of the company since its inception in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. At the helm of this business he was able to increase its data center capacity and its MPLS footprint in East Africa with an emphasis on process improvements, which resulted in significant growth in its market share and customer experience. Internet Solutions is a Pan-African ISP with presence in 14 Countries in Africa.

Was a board member from 1997 to 2007 of his family firm called Bedi Investments Ltd. A vertically integrated textile firm in Nakuru, Kenya that manufactured yarns, fabric and garments with an employee base of 1,400 and exported to Europe and USA.

In early 2011 he founded a business called Cambridge Africa which is a training and consulting business after successfully exiting from Internet Solutions. Cambridge Africa is an IBM training partner in 7 countries. Cambridge Africa also consults in IT Service Management with frameworks such as ITIL, Six Sigma, COBIT and ISO 20000 in helping companies with their journey to process excellence.

In 2015 he formed a company called Agilitude East Africa a Joint venture with Agilitude PTY Ltd South Africa. Agilitude designs Customer Experiences and strives to provide fast and efficient solutions to customers complex business needs. A platinum partner for Salesforce.com.

In 2018 Agilitude East Africa Became Cloudsmiths East Africa another joint venture with South African based Cloudsmiths PTY Ltd. Platinum Salesforce.com partner in Africa with vast experience in the Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Technology companies in Africa. Focusing on Business transformation of sales, service and marketing helping companies in their journey use the cloud based platform Salesforce.com.

He has a degree in Business Studies from the University of Wales, UK and a MBA from Leicester University, UK.

He is a Director at TESPOK, the body that manages the Kenya Internet Exchange Point and Industry body which is the voice of the telecommunication industry. He is also the past Chairman and Founder of Kenya IT and Outsourcing Society, providing policy and direction within the IT Enabled Services Industry and Government. Council member of Karatina University, a Kenyan Government University, from 2012 to 2018, giving guidance in ICT degrees at the University.

He is a member of the Asra Foundation, the promoting body of a state private University in Punjab, India called Desh Bhagat University. The university has more then 10,000 student base and has courses in Engineering, Nursing, Computer Science, Dentistry, Hotel Management. MBA and many more.
