Daniel Karrenberg

Biographie

Daniel Karrenberg has been helping to build the Internet in Europe from its very beginnings. In the 1980s he has helped to build EUnet into the first pan-European ISP. In the 1990s he has helped to build RIPE and the first regional Internet registry: the RIPE NCC. Daniel has served as the first CEO of the RIPE NCC until 2000 when he became its first chief scientist.

A computer scientist by training, he likes to invent, design and implement Internet related systems, especially those that collect and analyse data about the Internet itself. Daniel also likes to occasionally inject physics, engineering and "networking style" into debates about Internet governance.

The Karrenberg family lives in the south of the Netherlands within walking distance of Germany and cycling distance of Belgium. Daniel likes the Euro.
