Biografía

Anna Higgins is a Project Coordinator, Strong Internet, and Policy Advisor at the Internet Society. In her role, she works on issues such as encryption, competition, and security. She was previously a Research Analyst for the North America Regional Bureau of the Internet Society, where she researched, supported, and advocated for the Internet Society’s policy positions on privacy, security, and access issues — particularly for Tribal and Indigenous communities. Anna also previously worked at Next Century Cities — where she researched and created resources on broadband access issues for cities, towns, and counties — and ICANNWiki, where she developed content on ICANN and its domain-naming processes. She has been involved with the Internet Governance Forum USA for the past two years.

Anna earned her master of public policy and bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Media Studies from the University of Virginia. Her master’s thesis focused on public-private partnership models for a municipal government looking to deploy a publicly-owned network.

Anna also speaks Spanish and loves to travel, run, and go thrift shopping in her free time. She is based in Washington, D.C.
