DNSSEC Client Check for Websites

DNSSEC secure logo for SIDN javascriptAre you a website operator who wants to know if your users are using a DNSSEC validating resolver? SIDN Labs in The Netherlands, have put together a JavaScript tool to show users visiting websites if their DNS resolver validates DNSSEC.

The tool shows a locked icon if DNSSEC validation happens and works, or shows an unlocked icon if it doesn’t. This tool is interesting for website operators and their users. For operators it allows them to gauge how many people are accessing their site who use a DNSSEC validating resolver. For users it introduces them to the word DNSSEC, and generates interest.

The JavaScript code is available in Github for checkout. There is also a blog posting[Dutch] giving more explanation of the code and how it works.
