About 

Mobile Internet offers a vast array of opportunities to advance the quality of life for individuals, businesses and society. The anywhere, anytime access offered by mobile Internet has emerged as a significant component of the growing Internet economy. It has observed an immense evolution during the course of past one decade.

High speed mobile Internet technologies; EV-DO, HSPA, WiMax and LTE have opened new dimensions for Internet access, penetration and usage trends.Today, it is much more than just browsing the web, mobile Internet has positioned itself as a ‘Digital Bus’ carrying a whole package of services and applications that can enhance productivity, empower remote communities and address challenges unique to developing world.

Developing countries now have a real opportunity of transformation by the availability of affordable, high-speed mobile Internet connectivity. From education, health care and security to energy, transportation and financial services, the potential to innovate and deliver new locally manufactured solutions are now within portable reach. Governments and mobile Industry have a particular responsibility to expedite the growth of the mobile Internet by ensuring that barriers to adoption are removed. 

Asia Internet Symposium, Dhaka will draw from its proceedings to examine how mobile Internet will assist in building the next generation of users in Bangladesh. With a recent introduction of high-speed mobile Internet technologies in the country, the event will host deliberation on opportunities, challenges and expectations to extend Internet access in a country with just under 7% user penetration by population.

The following key points of consideration will be debated to determine the future outlook of the following ‘How To’ with regards to mobile Internet in Bangladesh:

Leverage next generation mobile technologies, offer affordable and robust Internet access to public?
Utilize Mobile Internet to promote innovation and build social impact?
Enable an environment to introduce online m-services in rural Bangladesh?
Identify future challenges, opportunities and develop collaboration among the Internet Stakeholders?
