Outreach Manager, Latin America and the Caribbean

About the Position:

The successful candidate in this newly created role, will play a central role in advancing and fulfilling Internet Society’s outreach needs, goals and objectives throughout the Latin America and Caribbean region.  This position reports to the LAC Regional Bureau Director, is part of the LAC regional team and will work in close collaboration and cooperation with the entirety of the organization, especially the Strategic Communications team.

Location: Latin America and the Caribbean ( Uruguay, Brazil, Costa Rica, Barbados, Argentina)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and strengthen the Internet Society’s contacts with key influencers and decision-makers in the LAC region
  • Coordinate the development of activities, events and programmes to further relationships with prospective and existing partners.
  • Work effectively with a broad spectrum of people and groups, including national governments, regional and international policy and technical fora (IGF, IETF, CITEL etc.), civil society and private sector groups in a manner that maintains the high standards of the Internet Society.
  • Act as an interface with our Strategic Communications team, helping to share useful information about activities in the region.
  • Support for global and regional communications initiatives. General communication and dissemination of news related to projects in collaboration with Strategic Communications
  • Research, write and edit a variety of content including briefing documents, blogs, reports, presentations, and other materials to advance LAC regional goals.
  • Work with the LAC regional team in preparation of meetings, presentations and reports.
  • Coordinate with other departments on projects as needed, including liaising between the LAC regional team and other departments on definition of requirements for specific projects
  • Any other duties as required.

Desired Qualifications:

Applicants are expected to demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of the full mix of communications mediums and their applicability; expertise in a global environment with specific understanding of culture and communication styles within the region is desirable.
  • Capacity to work in a multicultural environment and to work effectively across different departments.
  • Experience in digital communication and community development. Familiarity and comfort with Internet-based communication and work tools and working in active on-line communication environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in Spanish and English is a must. Proficiency in at least one additional language is a plus.
  • Must be able to build consensus on-line.
  • Experience and confidence necessary to represent the Internet Society effectively and professionally in international fora.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach to collaboration with strong coordination capability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to guide various projects to successful conclusions.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience working in similar positions as per the above requirements.
  • Commitment to ISOC’s organizational mission, vision and values.
  • The willingness and ability to travel extensively.
