Routing Security Pros – MANRS Needs Your Help!

By Megan Kruse Manager, Technology Outreach and Strategic Planning

Routing security is an important topic to us, which is why we have shared the Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) initiative here on this blog and at our ION Conferences for the last couple of years. Now, MANRS needs your help! A short survey aims to document how the four MANRS actions are configured in real networks via commonly used vendors and equipment models.

If you’re new to MANRS, it defines four specific Actions that, if implemented widely, would significantly improve the security and resilience of the Internet routing system. MANRS is a minimum baseline that networks can build on, implementing routing security in more complex network topologies.

We recently shared with you a new MANRS Implementation Guide that can help operators become MANRS compliant (and some of you even contributed to it). But to make it more practical and useful, we need actual configuration examples from specific vendors and equipment.

Many of you have already implemented these actions in your own networks, even if you haven’t signed up to MANRS yet (but you can still join!). Can you contribute to the survey and share your knowledge? It should take only 10-15 min to complete if you know how to configure these things.

Your participation is highly appreciated and will become part of an implementation library to help other networks interested in routing security and resilience.
