Watch Live This Week: 2016 South Summer School on Internet Governance (SSIG) from DC

By Raquel GattoFormer Senior Manager, Policy

The 2016 South Summer School on Internet Governance (SSIG) is about to start today in Washington DC! In its eighth edition, the SSIG has become one of the most important capacity building programs in the Latin American (LAC) region for training new leaders on internet issues.

The initiative has been championed by Olga Cavalli and Adrian Carballo, both ISOC Argentina Chapter officers, and this year has been organized by the Organization of American States (OAS) and CCLAT. It brings together the largest group in its history, about 180 students from several countries in the Americas, who will have an intensive week of learning classes directly from experts in different sectors.

The Internet Society has been long standing supporter of the SSIG and is proud of its impact in the region by empowering the next generation of leaders.

We will hold a panel about Internet Governance Forum on Wednesday, 30th, at 4:30pm (UTC-4).

The agenda (PDF) raises the different pieces in the Internet Governance Ecosystem and for this year it has a special focus on Cybersecurity and Freedom of Expression. Some of the keynote speakers highlights are: Vint Cerf, Daniel Sepulveda and Larry Strickling.
