Technical experts from Africa and the various parts of the world will gather at Hotel Pullman Marrakech Palmeraie Resort and Spa in Marrakech, Morocco between 4th and 6th of March 2016, for the fourth Africa Domain Name System (DNS) Forum.  As in previous year, the forum has brought together experts in the domain name industry, business experts and policy makers, looking for ways to promote the growth of Africa’s Domain Name Space. This will be the fourth African DNS Forum following events in Durban, South Africa (2013), Abuja, Nigeria (2014) and Nairobi, Kenya (2015).

Under the theme: Strengthening Partnerships for the development of the African Domain Name Industry” the event is hosted by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) of Morocco in partnership with the Africa Top Level Domain (AFTLD), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Society (ISOC).

The event will discuss issues regarding building Strategic Partnerships, Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms for ccTLDs, Registrars and Resellers, Infrastructure, Registry Platform sharing, Capacity Building and the important issue of collaborative security and the role that DNS plays in realizing this collaborative security. Also to be discussed are topics around Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs).

Africa’s DNS industry has huge potential for growth with less than 1.5 million domains registered under the active ccTLDs on the continent. The Africa DNS Forum aims to provide a platform for stakeholders in the Africa Domain Name space to discuss the industry and address the growth challenges.

ISOC’s CEO Ms. Kathy Brown and the Director General of the ANRT, Mr Azdine EL MOUNTASSIR BILLAH will be in attendance and will participate in the formal opening. Several ISOC staff are also actively participating in the agenda.
