The “Internet in 2015: Infrastructure and Governance, state of affairs and perspectives” is the theme of an event organized by the Internet Society’s Cameroon Chapter on 12 February 2015 from 9:00 AM-14:00 PM at the Institute of Digital Governance in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

This conference will offer a platform to share experiences and discuss topics relevant to the local Internet community, such as:

  • Who’s involved of the Internet Governance
  • The IANA transition: development and prospects
  • Internet Exchange Point: best practices 2014 in Africa
  • The abandonment of the Network Address Translation for a secure Internet connection with IPv6
  • State of affairs of the Internet infrastructure in Cameroon:

a.Infrastructure at the sub-regional level

b.Infrastructure at the national level

c.Infrastructure for Mobile and Broadband

The panel animating the discussions is expected to be composed of local and international experts. Invited to the event are all actors of the local Internet ecosystem from both the public and the private sectors as well as the Internet Society Cameroon Chapter’s members.

The Internet Society Cameroon Chapter has felt the need for this conference to bolster the local community’s access to information on the latest development of the Internet within the country as well as on the best practices of the usages and achievements of the Internet taking place within the global arena.

It is expected that at the end of the event, the local community will be better equipped with relevant information on the local, regional and international development of the Internet. Furthermore, such practice will enable the community of Cameroon to participate and actively engage in regional and international discussion forums (ICANN, IGF, AFRINIC, etc.) taking place in 2015. Last but not least, the Internet Society Cameroon Chapter believes that the conference will change the attitude of ISPs by encouraging the deployment of IPv6.
