Aisyah Shakirah is the Regional Community Engagement Manager, Asia-Pacific for the Internet Society, where she is responsible to manage, mobilize and engage ISOC chapters across the Asia-Pacific toward achieving Internet Society’s objectives.

Prior to joining ISOC Global, Aisyah volunteered as the Program Coordinator at the Internet Society Malaysia Chapter (ISOC MY) for four years. She was also selected as an Internet Society ambassador to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Paris, a Google Fellow to the Internet Governance Forum 2019 in Berlin, and a Goethe Institut Fellow to the Youth IGF Summit in Germany. Aisyah was also a NextGen fellow to the ICANN64 Meeting in Kobe, Japan. During ICANN66 in Montreal, Canada, Aisyah represented the Asia-Pacific Regional At-Large Organisation (APRALO) to the ICANN ATLASIII Summit and was appointed as an ICANN At-Large Ambassador.

Within the Asia-Pacific region, Aisyah’s involvement in the Internet governance ecosystem is evident through her active participation at the Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) Russia as a fellow, the Asia-Pacific Top-Level Domain (APTLD) Meeting at Iskandar Puteri in Johor, Malaysia, Youth IGF Asia-Pacific in Vladivostok, and Internet Society’s Asia-Pacific Chapters and SIGs Workshop in Kuala Lumpur. Aisyah was also nominated and selected by the US State Department to participate in TechCamp Taipei, Taiwan in 2019. She was also a fellow to the Asia-Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) in Seoul, South Korea.

Aisyah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She also completed her external education in International Relations, particularly on European and South East Asia studies in the area of Multilateralism and Multiculturalism at Maastricht University, Campus Brussels, Belgium, and Universitas Indonesia, respectively.

She is a native Malay speaker and speaks fluent English. Aisyah also speaks some French and Arabic.

Aisyah is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
