Neeti Biyani

Senior Advisor, Policy and Advocacy

Biography

I joined the Internet Society in February 2021 and serve as Senior Advisor, Policy and Advocacy. I believe the Internet is a force for good for everyone. I am passionate about upholding the open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet. I track, identify, and analyze policies and decisions that may impact the open Internet, and advocate to impact change.

I lead the Internet Society’s work against Internet fragmentation, and work cross-organizationally to enable our community, build coalitions, and mobilize advocates to join in our efforts to protect the Internet. I am keenly interested in recognizing the differentiated realities of the Global South and approaching issues from a rights-based perspective.

In my previous roles, I worked with various national civil society organizations in India to further electoral transparency, development justice, and social justice. I was involved with public and governmental advocacy, and was part of negotiations within bodies and tracks including OECD, G20, BRICS, UN Financing for Development, Sustainable Development Goals, etc.

I have a background in international politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

I love storytelling and traveling. On weekends, I can usually be found reading literary fiction, watching films and documentaries from across the world, or writing poetry with my dog snoozing by my side.
