What is ACTA
ACTA is a treaty that involves copyrights and global intellectual property protections. It's a series of proposals that are being negotiated on an international level with the goal of writing treaty language that each country can pass that will become law in the signatory nation upon its passage.
These were closed negotiations, however, the Internet Society and others called for a more open, transparent and inclusive process.
Participants in ACTA
Australia, Canada, the European Union (represented by the European Commission, and the European Union Presidency), Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States were participants in the ACTA negotiations.
