Mat Ford joined the Internet Society's Standards & Technology Department in September 2008. As Technology Program Manager, he organizes and leads aspects of the Internet Society's work in advancing the development and deployment of open standards and promoting the Internet's collaborative development and operational management model.
Mat has contributed to the IETF in the area of IPv6 development and deployment for many years and also chaired the cluster of IPv6 research projects supported by the European Commission. As a working group chair for the IPsphere Forum, he worked on the new technology framework for IP interconnect. Most recently, he helped lead the Trilogy research consortium in their initial steps to re-architect the Internet.
His background includes development of network security designs for a range of platforms, research and development in IP mobility and IPv6, as well as developing platforms to demonstrate research results. He was most recently a Principal Researcher at British Telecom's Networks Research Centre.
