Greg Kapfer has more than 20 years experience as a financial officer. During his career he has worked with a wide range of companies employing the Internet to bring services to both the public and private sectors, including telecommunications providers, equipment suppliers, a wireless communications integrator and, most recently, an Internet-based application service provider.
Prior to joining the Internet Society, Greg was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Bid4Assets, Inc., a provider of online auction services. At Bid4Assets, he was responsible for finance, systems development and operations, human resources and client operations. He held similar financial executive positions with the Institutional Communications Company, one of the first fiber optic carriers in the United States; and Digital Radio Networks, a wireless communications integrator.
While at MCI, Greg was instrumental in the development of MCI Digital Information Systems, an early electronic mail provider, and worked on MCI’s acquisition of Western Union International.
Greg holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and mathematics from Wake Forest University and an MBA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his license as a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina.
