Proposed Changes to Internet Society Bylaws

Changes in the laws of the location of the Internet Society’s Incorporation (District of Columbia, U.S.A) have necessitated timely adjustments to the organizations bylaws. The opportunity is also being used by the Board to take a considered look at the organization as it is today versus the time of incorporation and adjust bylaws to equitably reflect all stakeholders. The Advisory Council’s opinion is key in the Board’s consideration of proposals for bylaw adjustment.

Focus on the upcoming 2012 ITU World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) and the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA). Both conferences are extremely important and may have implications for the Internet architecture, content, operations and security.
Session will provide an overview of the Conferences, the process to prepare, and some of the specific proposals that have been made.
Review ISOC activities to date and discuss what we can/should be doing on this topic going forward.
Want to hear from Advisory Council members on which topics are of greatest importance and to have a discussion amongst the Advisory Council on how different organizations are preparing for these events.
