Webinar: Preparing for the ITU's WCIT/WTSA conference (ENGLISH)

Date & Time: Tuesday, 10. July 2012, 10:30 UTC and 20:00 UTC
Venue: WebEx

This webinar was organized for Chapter leaders in preparation of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)'s World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT) and World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) in December this year.  As you probably know, the decisions made by governments at WCIT could redefine the international regulatory environment for the Internet and telecoms in the 21st century and beyond – impacting how people around the world are able to use the Internet.

The purpose of this initial webinar was to give an introduction to WTSA/WCIT, including the ITU timeline of events and the ITU process. It also offered an opportunity to explore ways of how Chapters can become involved in the process.

In order to accommodate the different time zones, two webinars were organized in English on 10 July 2012 at 10:30 UTC and 20:00 UTC.

Two more webinars are scheduled: one in French on 17 July 2012 at 13:00 UTC and one in Spanish on 24 July at 17:00 UTC.

Agenda

- Presentation: WCIT and the Internet Issues ( 30 mins) - Sally Wentworth (Senior Manager, Public Policy, Internet Society) and Karen Mulberry (Policy Advisor, Internet Society)
- Discussion, Questions and Answers (30 mins)
