ION Mumbai: A Raging Success!

By Megan KruseFormer Director, Advocacy and Communications

InteropOn 11 October, the whole Deploy360 team hosted the first ION Conference of 2012, ION Mumbai, co-located with INTEROP India. We are thrilled to report that the year’s inaugural conference was a killer event! INTEROP India literally rolled out the red carpet for the Internet Society and local enthusiasm resulted in heavy booth traffic, well-attended ION sessions, and potential interest in forming a new Mumbai Chapter of the Internet Society!

The traffic at the booth in the INTEROP Exhibition Hall was constant for all three days of the event. INTEROP attendees were eager to learn more about the Internet Society and our Deploy360 Programme as we steadily relinquished all Deploy360 materials and goodies.

Our industry experts delivered insightful presentations, sharing important lessons learned in the deployment of new technologies and providing insight into the future of the Internet networking landscape, to a completely packed house!

Highlights include:

  • Neosixth’s Srinivas Gudipudi enthusiastically encouraged the crowd to “love IPv6!”
  • Hurricane Electric’s Martin Levy shared his IPv6 World Launch Day experience, presented a world map of IPv6 and a visual of IPv6 routing within India, and discussed HE’s IPv6 Certification Program.
  • TATA’s Badri Narayanan Parthasarathy emphasized the importance of IPv6 for virtualization and the cloud and revealed the hot trends for Next Generation Internet.
  • One lucky young man left the event a happy owner of a new Google Nexus 7, the ION Mumbai raffle prize.

To view the enlightening slides from all of the panels, please visit the ION Mumbai Agenda.

We’ve also just concluded ION Ljubljana, co-located with the Slovenian IPv6 Summit, and we’ll have more information on that in the coming days, including presentations and video archives. In the meantime, remember we’ve got two more ION Conferences coming up in December:

With these events, we continue our mission to collect the latest intelligence from the front lines of IPv6 and DNSSEC deployment and share it with the next batch of networks and network engineers. If you can’t join in person, please monitor the ION pages as we continue to post the slides and (usually) video. One way or another, the Internet Society’s Deploy360 team will arm you with the information you need to navigate the standards implementation process with ease.
