Workshop on Migration from IPv4 to IPv6 in Mali

To make the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 a smooth one, everyone in the technology sector will need to be involved.

The Mali Chapter of Internet Society, in collaboration with African Network Information Centre (AfriNIC), worked together in organizing a three-day workshop days in Bamako, Mali to help technology experts be able to facilitate the transition from a declining Protocol (IPv4) and a another that is needed daily (IPv6).

In this workshop was organized with the following objectives:

  • Inform ICT players in Mali, the need for a gradual transition by the 2015 deadline.
  • Prepare Techies Mali (public and private) to a better transition from IPv4 to IPv6 in their respective structures.
  • Having a core of volunteers available and diligent to train their colleagues who could not attend this workshop.
  • Allow AFRINIC to explain its role in the development of the Internet in Africa and the Middle East.
  • Allow the Internet Society Mali Chapter to sustain its acknowledgments, to participate actively in the development of the Internet and ICT in general in Mali.
