ISOC Puerto Rico Chapter is announcing its INET event for the region to be held on 16 December 16, 2010 The theme for the event is: “The Power of the Cloud: The Internet as a knowledge resource for economic growth and global competitiveness…”. If you are around this region, please join us that day.

Puerto Rico’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), Mr. Juan Eugenio Rodriguez was the keynote speaker at our August monthly member meeting. He presented the strategic plan for bringing under one umbrella all government information systems. At the moment there are approximately 144 public agencies in Puerto Rico, the majority of them with their own computer center and support personnel.

ISOC Puerto Rico was the proponent of the CIO position for the government of Puerto Rico. It took us three years working together with government officials to create this position which we believe is key to move the Island forward with respect to its technology and information
utilization.

The keynote speaker for our September member activity will be Mr. John Canaday, President of Cisco Puerto Rico. The topic of his presentation is: “Technology Development: What’s Next”. See you next month…
